Austrian KAZ 03 Battle Belt, Surplus

Price 9.99 USD excluding sales tax

In the age of MOLLE tactical vests many forgot, how much stuff you can fit on a padded Battle Belt. With Plate Carriers, these are making a comeback but the Austrians got it right a long time ago already.

Compared to a regular pistol belt, anatomically shaped battle belts are more comfortable to wear and provide a better platform for pouches. You can also easily fit more pouches on a battle belt and if it's getting a bit heavy, just add an H-harness to spread the load.

Features

The construction of the KAZ 03 battle belt is quite simple and a 57 mm / 2.2" webbing on the outside is the means to attach the pouches. It's also the "actual belt". The inside of the strap has a hook surface strip to keep Austrian pouches more secure and it also fits the "AT Keeper", a polymer version of the metallic US Keeper or "ALICE Clip" if you give into popular speech.

PALS pouches can be woven onto the webbing if your pouch allows other means of routing the strap than "every other". You are looking to form a 50 mm / 2" loop.

The top of the belt has buckles for a 25 mm / 1" webbing for attaching a harness as simple as you can make.

Size info

The table below indicates the length of the padded part only. Because these are worn low and are wide and thick, it's conveniently the recommended maximum waist size as well. The ends should be left 10–20 cm / 4"–8" apart and if you pick the belt according to your waist size you will be just about right.

Medium86 cm34"

Condition

Used condition. The elastics are way past their best days but the belts are in a serviceable condition.

Austrian surplus

Functional, neutral, clean. That's what the Austrian Bundesheer gear is made of. Our Austrian surplus revolves mostly around the Anzug 75 and Anzug 03 clothing systems, but who knows, maybe the "Tarnanzug Neu" will make it's appearance if the Austrians decide to clear the stocks in the future. Get your OD gear while the stocks last.

After the Second World War the Austrian soldier looked like a weird mixture of Allies and Germans; the M1 style helmet and general profile really tried to bring that NATO vibe up, but a lot of the gear and even the dotted camouflage pattern looked surprisingly much like WW2 German issue. In the 70s they took a major leap towards NATO with the introduction of the all-green Anzug 75 clothing and equipment system closely inspired by the American equivalents, finally letting go of the "old stuff". The Anzug 03 brought the game up to date with some changes in effort to modernize the whole thing. Now the Bundesheer is again moving over to camouflage.
