Features

These have a drawstring closure, three compression straps on the side, and a carry handle at the bottom. The ones that we checked were all made by Carinthia in 2007, but there can also be other manufacturers and other years in this batch. These are in olive drab, some a bit lighter, some a bit darker. In fashion magazines, you could fit ten fab shades in between these, but they are all fucking green. Besides, forest trolls won’t see a difference so who cares?

Measurements c. 25 x 45 cm (9.8” x 17.7”) when full but not compressed. Because there are bags from various manufacturers and different years in this batch, the sizes might vary a bit. In any case, you can fit a 3-season sleeping bag inside very nicely. Probably not a thick winter sleeping bag unless it is one of those high-tech down versions. You can also use these bags for other things, such as padded thermal clothing that you want to compress. Wash at 60 degrees Celsius (140 F).

Condition

Used Bundesheer, i.e. Austrian military surplus. These have some signs of use. For example, the PU coating on the inside is often flaking off. This just means that these aren't 100 % waterproof. The main fabric is still good to go for a long time to come.

Austrian surplus

Functional, neutral, clean. That's what the Austrian Bundesheer gear is made of. Our Austrian surplus revolves mostly around the Anzug 75 and Anzug 03 clothing systems, but who knows, maybe the "Tarnanzug Neu" will make it's appearance if the Austrians decide to clear the stocks in the future. Get your OD gear while the stocks last.

After the Second World War the Austrian soldier looked like a weird mixture of Allies and Germans; the M1 style helmet and general profile really tried to bring that NATO vibe up, but a lot of the gear and even the dotted camouflage pattern looked surprisingly much like WW2 German issue. In the 70s they took a major leap towards NATO with the introduction of the all-green Anzug 75 clothing and equipment system closely inspired by the American equivalents, finally letting go of the "old stuff". The Anzug 03 brought the game up to date with some changes in effort to modernize the whole thing. Now the Bundesheer is again moving over to camouflage.

As described, it is used and you can see, I removed the ruined inner PU coating, mine is branded Carinthia, it does its job perfectly, I took it from hooking in the bottom of my Veshmeshok with two grimlocks.
