If your local hunting culture takes firearms safety seriously, that's great. Depending on where you hunt, this might not apply. In Italy, for example, the start of the hunting season is often followed by a funeral season, for a hunter from the same group or an unlucky hiker in the area. And you thought machine gun hunting Americans were bad.

Part of being careful is to recognize the possibility of an error. Being a long way from the nearest hospital when there's a hole in your friend is a shitty place to be if all you have is tick-tweezers and some band-aids.
