A heavenly blend of alpaca and sheep
Alpaca is a relatively new arrival to the vast wastelands of Finland, but we're slowly getting acquainted with it. We already have alpaca farms here, you know! When you take alpaca and merino wool and combine them to a well thought-out basic scarf, you have something damn nice in your hands!
Material and care
- 70% merino wool, 30% alpaca wool.
- 460 g/m2.
- 20,5-21 micron.
- Wool wash 40° C / 104° F.
Alpaca is said to be up to three times as warm as lambswool, won't pile up easily but doesn't contain lanolin either. On the other hand merino wool is extremely fine lambswool and traps warmth like there's no tomorrow - all in all a tried and true material. Both wools are pretty warm even when wet and won't stink easily thanks to their anti-bacterial properties.
The scarf can be machine washed in 40° Celsius (104° F) with a wool cycle. The use of wool care products recommended (ones with lanolin too). Hang dry.
Our merino wool is mulesing-free. With alpaca wool such measures have not been necessary ever, so it's quite ethical by virtue.
Size and measurements
The scarf measures 130 x 25 cm / 51" x 10" flat and made of a stretchy rib knit. Due to the special manufacturing process the ends are a bit unsymmetrical at first, but will even up in use.
Two colors
The available colors are dark brown and grey. As said before, these are the natural shades of the animals and haven't been treated in any way. They can vary just a bit from batch to batch.
Being untreated, they also have the natural odor of the animal, which will wear off with use. We think this is a lovely scent, kinda reminds us of a farm.
