Especially for people who have ever seen snow, it's important to note that closing and opening this buckle doesn't involve any bending or other deformation of plastic, so there's extra little risk of this thing ever snapping. The design also makes it very easy to use even while wearing thick, clumsy mittens, which usually are called "no-can-doos".
