Swedish prisoner jacket, surplus

9.99 USD

Like a modern men's blazer, but even more like an early 20th century worker's jacket, which it sort of is! This jacket is very likely vintage prison wear, definitely Swedish. Garments like this just look better with use and wear. These are in excellent shape, and with a surprisingly good size selection too.

Särmä leather belt, 40 mm

Proper no-nonsense leather belts are increasingly difficult to find these days, well at least until we started making these! This here is just that, a proper no-nonsense leather trouser belt, strong leather with a classical single prong brass buckle.

Austrian M75 service shirt, olive drab, surplus

Austrian M75 service shirt, olive drab, surplus

3.99 - 7.99 USD

Once again a prime example of good military surplus - thick for a collared shirt, the Austrian Bundesheer used these as the outer layer in summer months. An excellent choice when you need a mid layer shirt that doubles as a light, somewhat windproof, fast-drying outer layer - and want to look good while you chew bubblegum and kick ass.

Särmä Worker Trousers, brown

Särmä Worker Trousers, brown

72.99 USD

Classic design back when men's clothing was both practical and good looking. The best thing about these are the darts in the back and pleats in front. These give more room around the hip area, so the trousers do not crush your balls like all modern trousers do.

Särmä TST L1 Long johns, merino wool

Särmä TST L1 Long johns, merino wool

36.99 USD

Highly functional lightweight long underpants for active wear. Snug fit, strong and stretchy material and the naturally moisture wicking and comfortable merino wool are what makes these what they are, a great and reliable choice for demanding use.

Särmä Worker Flat Cap, brown

Särmä Worker Flat Cap, brown

31.99 USD

A basic flat cap, and that's what's so nice about these; timeless colour and form, no flashy logos or ugly details. It's a hat you could wear with anything. At the same time this cap will demilitarize anything else you are wearing. Just add braces to your trousers and you look all ready for a proper bar fight!

Helsingin Olkain button braces

Helsingin Olkain button braces

20.99 USD

High quality button braces, made in Finland! Better start sewing on buttons on your trousers if they don't have them already, as only barbarians, men of low moral fibre and the Finnish army uses clip-on braces!

Särmä ankle boots

Särmä ankle boots

117.99 USD

Bullshit free ankle boots made by the Estonian Foxberg to our specs. Apart from the sole these are much like the US Army garrison boots from the Second World War. Very nice quality, these aren't just for show, they are good enough for real use.

Särmä TST L2 Long johns, merino wool

Särmä TST L2 Long johns, merino wool

49.99 USD

Functional midweight long johns designed for active wear. Made from a polyamide reinforced merino wool blend. Functions both as a heavier base layer or a mid layer, great for both the cold seasons and cool summer nights.

Want some proper nice vintage men's trousers? Look no further than these Swedish prisoner issue pants! Made of cotton with such luxurious features as high waist, roomy pockets, pleated waist and suspender buttons, these should fit the bill for anyone who's looking for a casual pair for everyday wear or just after vintage prison wear.

The fabric is nothing short of amazing; it reflects light differently depending on the angle you look at it. That's because the threads used in the weave are of different colours. Pair these with rusty red, dark blue and brownish coloured stuff and they work like a charm. Wash in 40 degrees Celsius, about.

Size info

Sizes in standard EU sizes or straight-up centimetres because different size marking standards, but please pick the trousers by our recommended user's measurements (user's recommended height and maximum waist) seen in the brackets; our measurements are more accurate than the actual fit by the official size numbers. For example, normally in the Swedish system size 96 would be a long 48, but these are quite erratic! Note: these have some tolerance in the measurements. By picking your size by our recommendations you will get a pair that fits AT LEAST that size person, the leg & waist of the trousers can be a couple of centimetres bigger too. Fortunately these are very easy to shorten, having a straight leg. Measure your waist at the navel!

Being prisoner issue, maybe even made by prisoners, possibly even inspected by prisoners, these are not the fanciest quality when it comes to details such as this.

Our model is size 175/84 cm and wears size 48 trousers in the pictures.

Condition

In excellent condition, most aren't even used. These do have a musty warehouse odour to them. This will fade away in use. These are probably made in the mid 1900's, so what can you expect!

Empoyee's comments

These are just lovely. Surprisingly comfortable and very very very cheap for what they are. Of course the attention to minute details has that little rough edge to it - for example my pair has a finger-size hole in the seam of one pocket, the stitching of one button was shoddily made and a part of some seam was questionably sewn, all straight from the factory. Expect these kind of things. Oh, and the musty smell left in about a week.

The fabric feels just light enough for summer use, especially with its light colour scheme. These look pretty good paired with darkish bluish green, straight up light gray or shades of blue and of course brown shoes. I'm still thinking about trying to dye them darker. And maybe get a second pair just in case, as these are dirt cheap.

Thank you, the prison system of Sweden!

Later on I bought two pairs more. My waist is pretty much 84 cm, and size 48 (or 96) seemed to usually fit OK.

These are fantastic trousers. The pairs I have were made by two of Sweden's largest and longest established workwear companies; Fristads and Gefa AB. It's interesting to see the slight constructional differences between them, and they were obviously made quite a few years apart. Regarding sizing; I take a 30-31" waist, and ordered both the 48 and 96 sizes. If you're on the shorter side, the 48 will be the best bet. If you're taller, go for the 96... they're more roomy in the all important 'ball room' ;-)
