History

In 2001, a French custom knifemaker and a close combat instructor Fred Perrin created his first Spyderco design known as Street Bowie. It became very popular but many people also wanted a smaller, more concealable version, which led to the creation of the original Street Beat in 2007. The only problem with this knife was the price. It had expensive materials and design concepts that put it beyond the reach of many knife enthusiasts. To meet their needs, the knife was redesigned in 2015, incorporating more cost-effective manufacturing methods. The result is this knife here. It has all the features of the original but in a lighter and more affordable format.

Blade

The Bowie-styled blade is made from Japanese VG-10 stainless steel that is a very popular material for kitchen, folding, and fixed-blade knives. It has a full-flat grind and PlainEdgeTM for superior balance and strength. For tactical users who don’t like shiny steel, the blade also features a non-reflective black ceramic coating. The textured grooves on the spine ensure excellent control during precise cutting tasks.

Handle

The tough fiberglass-reinforced-Nylon handle is injection molded onto the tang. It features the same ergonomic design as the original Street Beat. The index finger choil prevents your hand from slipping onto the blade during use. In case you prefer a lanyard on your knives, the handle also includes a generously-sized hole for that purpose.

Sheath

To maximize the carry options, this knife comes with a polymer sheath with a G-Clip attachment. The snap-fit sheath holds the knife securely, yet allows a quick and reliable draw. You can attach the G-Clip to either side of the sheath for ambidextrous use. It is angle adjustable to support a vertical, horizontal, or canted carry on the belt or inside the waistband. There are also grommets around the sheath instead of rivets, allowing it to be easily lashed or flex-tied to MOLLE platforms or other load-bearing gear.
