Soviet officer's greatcoat, General of the Army
A thick woollen Soviet officer's greatcoat with the rank of General of the Army, very very high up the tree, just second from the Marshal of the Soviet Union. One-off piece!
A classic prancy two-row model with satin lining, complete with collar tabs and shoulder boards denoting rank. This coat has red piping all over it too. There have been about 130 holders of this rank in the Soviet Union and Russia. The Western equivalent is a four star general.
This must be a tailor-made item. Sleeve length from shoulder seam to cuff 70 cm, chest 124 cm, waist 120 cm. Would fit someone about 180 cm tall, with a chest of 112 cm and waist of 108 cm. In other words EU size 56. Comparable US size 44R.
In very good shape, nothing to gripe about! The coat has been used, which is evident from the slightly worn buttonholes and back of the inside collar.
