Särmä TST M05 field cap

Our take on the Finnish military issue M05 summer woodland field cap. Our version is really not that fancy, what we did was remove the silly black webbing band around the visor, thinned down the visor stiffener from 2 mm to 1 mm (much more comfortable now) and removed the silly plastic name tag window and cap badge.

• Outrageously simple, this might not be the prettiest cap out there but it gets the job done.
• Adjustable size using a velcro strap.
• Stiffened visor to keep the sun out of your eyes.
• Polyester sweatband.

The Särmä TST model differs from the Finnish Defence Forces issued cap in some details: We thinned down the plastic sheet inside the visor to make it more pliable and comfier. The official issue field caps have a silly black reinforcement band around the edge of the visor, it really doesn´t do any good when you want to stay undetected in the woods so we took that off. Simplify!

Adjustable size

These come in three sizes, M for smallish to medium heads, L for larger ones etc. The velcro strip at the back can be used to adjust the size down for a custom fit. Below are the actual interior circumference measurements (neck velcro tightened - neck velcro at "normal" position):

• M: 56-58 cm / (7 - 7 1/4")
• L: 59-61 cm / (7 3/8" - 7 5/8")
• XL: 62-64 cm / (7 3/4" - 8)

Finnish MILSPEC materials

Fabric: Cooltex 3 50/50 polycotton, 275 g/m²: This is the exact same material used in the latest production runs of the official issue uniforms. Naturally the camo print is totally NIR compliant, so you don´t need to fear looking all lit-up when viewed through NVDs.

To make sure the fabric does not lose it´s NIR compliant properties we recommend careful wash using only detergents that are free of optical brighteners, basically the more natural you get the better.
