Lightweight balaclava made of merino wool - excellent head cover when you need one. Works just as well as a helmet liner. Our own production made in Lithuania.

Usually balaclavas are either lightweight cotton (which is nasty when wet) or thick acrylic/wool (hot as hell). These take the best of both worlds. Even in really cold weather, you can wear this under any additional protection - wool is still the best thing next to your skin.

Mulesing free 100% merino wool. These are moisture-wicking, dry fast and are self-rinsing. They are also machine-washable, but washing is usually unnecessary - wool cleans itself. If you have to wash, it can be done in 40 degrees celsius. Don't leave them in a wet lump after washing. Reshape them gently while still damp. When not in use, air them out and give them a good shake after that. You only need to wash the clothes if you see stains or they start to smell really bad. This usually requires lots of continuous use without airing.

Mahtava tuote.

I work outdoors in rural Manitoba Canada, which is basically the dead marshes of Mordor with wind and snow. In this frozen wasteland skin can freeze, crack and dry out in minutes. As I write this, it's a balmy -14 C in early November.
This balaclava:
- Fits in a cargo pocket with ease, as the photo shows it's one versatile piece of kit.
- Warm but not scorching hot. As Les Stroud says in cold weather survial: you sweat - you die.
- My job requires communication, easy movement and hearing. With the light-weight merino this is not hampered one bit.
- Very well made by Lithuanians, who are from a comfy land of pretty castles with decent labour laws. Not Vietnamese kids who have never seen a snowflake.
- Very breathable and comfortably fitting for all sizes.

Särmä is quickly becoming my go-to brand. Keep up the good work!

Excellent, I have no idea why this would be on clearance. The TST level one marino wool is thinner than this, but not much. The feel is great, I wish they made more products out of this fabric. Tag says 100% marino wool, unlike most the rest of the Marino products. The fit is perfect, it allows plenty of stretch so it stays wherever you put it on your head, but not tight ever. Plenty breathable and plenty warm. This is a product that will have a nice wide temperature range of comfort, but it is also light, slim, and well made. If you go get too hot, this will not take up much space in your pocket. I highly recommend this, especially at the discounted rate. I got two and will get two more for gifts. Brilliant.
