Swedish headlamp, surplus

Price 9.99 USD excluding sales tax

Old school headlamp, Swedish army surplus. This is not a toy, unlike many modern plastic trinkets. However it is bulky, simple and reliable, just like army kit usually is.

The package contains:

  • The lamp itself. This works by just turning the thing a bit, ON/OFF technology at its best. The bulb might be used up, but spares are available probably at your nearest gas station. If you can't make out the specs, it's 3V 0,3 AMP.
  • Adjustable headband.
  • Metal battery case (11,5 x 3,5 x 7 cm), with room for three D batteries and clamps for two spare bulbs (bulbs might not be included). There's a leather strap with buttonholes to hang it from anywhere including the headband if you have to, but it should fit in your breast pocket too. Or just slide it on your belt.
  • The case is not waterproof, but the amount of "open" rivets on it suggests this is intentional - maybe the water just gets out pretty quickly too? As this is a military item these things have surely been taken into consideration.

No hard data about power output, but compared to modern lamps it's not very much. Enough to see what you're doing and where you are going.

Condition

Used. Other than the bulb, there's not much to go wrong with these, so if it won't light up, get a few new ones and you're good to go for a long while. As a good omen the first one we picked up from the box lit up happily after cramming a few D batteries in the case.

Hard use old tech, just the way i like it. With a bit of rewiring it's pretty easy to run this of li-ion 18650's should you have some of those left over from an other project.
Only works well in low/no light conditions because the output is quite low. Works very well in snowy conditions because, no strong reflection.

Great light! The metal disk stored behind the lamp is a light cover to hide the lens. The disk has a small hole angled downward so it can also function as a black out lamp. It uses standard e10 bulbs and you can easily buy e10 LED bulbs on amazon to up the power. It is a 4.5V light so use 3V bulbs (4.5V has always used 3V bulbs). The light is turned on by twisting the lamp itself. You will see a spring loaded post on the twist section of the lamp. Pushing the post all the way down will allow you to pull off the front of the lamp to change the bulb. The strap can fit over your helmet, if needed. There are 3 snaps that unbutton to allow you to place hooks under the rim of your steel helmet to secure it.

Aivan mainio vehje.

Philips bulb.... with tungsten filament, eye-friendly light spectrum... According to my needs, I put an 18 Ah lithium battery in the battery box. With a Philips lamp for continuous education, the battery lasts for 60 hours! For those who want to save battery or have stronger lights, there are LED bulbs with a thread, they fit perfectly and shine perfectly. But there is no such light that you can't see the barbecue in the dark like under the light of a Philips bulb.
