On today's episode of Forgotten Army Jackets, we present to you the "What Would Poland Do" variation of the classic US M65 jacket. Retaining the archetypal good looks and functionality, some unnecessary things have been omitted and a few tricks added.

Essentially, the jacket is a sturdy field jacket made with a poly-cotton blend (67% cotton, 37% polyester) and a removable insulation liner. four front pockets, and a traditional collar. As a departure from the norm, the shell jacket has a padded liner in addition to the removable one - the jacket is rather warm even in the "summer configuration" for intermediate weather. The gusseted sleeves offer great mobility - a feature we'd like to see in jackets more often!

As an interesting hidden feature, the sides have zippered openings to gain access into pant pockets. And that's not all! Behind the openings on both sides, you'll find large poacher's pockets. These are not suitable for small items but great for heavy winter gloves and such.

The front closes with buttons only, as do the pockets. The removable liner is also secured with buttons around its edges and at the sleeve cuffs. The shoulders have rank tabs and the waist has an adjustable drawstring. Sleeve pockets are found on both sides and an extra one low on the left, maybe they had a some budget left to spend and went with a small pocket. Soldiers love pockets.

Size info

The numbers represent a recommended user height and chest circumference. These are not maximum values, the range extends about 3 cm up and down i.e. size 184 / 92 cm is good for people between 181-187 cm tall with an 89-95 cm chest, roughly speaking.

The jacket itself has clearance for warm layers but the included liner jacket takes up most of this space.

Polish army surplus

Genuine issue items in unissued condition, many of these still have the mfg. tags in place and the buttonholes are tight, these will loosen a little with use.

Just received mine today, so I can’t say anything about longevity but these are awesome! Craftsmanship is great, all tags still on (mine were made 03/2007), thick durable fabric (feels a lot like Fjällräven G-1000 Heavy Duty), lots of pockets, the removable lining fits tight and is easily removable and reattached. The non removable liner will make this jacket a bit warm during summer but spring and autumn it’ll be great. I’m glad I went for a smaller size then recommended though. I’m 176 cm, 76 kg, 106 chest, athletic build and went with a 178/92. I can still easily fit a wool liner shirt, a wool middle layer beneath this jacket with the removable liner inserted and have full freedom of movement. To be honest, so far I’d say this is THE best military surplus jacket I’ve ever bought.

Wow. Just wow. Not entirely sure what I was expecting but this quality...for that price... What a fabulous deal! The Jacket is of superb quality. It beats Helikon Tex' M65 jacket by a very long shot. There's just no comparison.
I think you get the picture, I'm a pleasantly surprised happy camper. Size info was spot on. I'm 1m85, athletic build. 104/184 fits me perfectly

Though I risk divorce by continually buying things here, I could not resist this unpronounceable parka. Tag said something like "Wybrzezec", which sounds kinda erotic.

Thicker, heavier, and warmer than my Anzug comparator. Mine was new, with a tag, and fit perfectly well.

Liner sleeves tend to come out when I take it off, remedied with safety pins.

Pockets are smaller than the Anzug, but fit gloves etc fine enough.

Needs a Polandball patch.

Update: Jeroen above is correct: buttons keep the sleeves in place. No more tears. I’ve worn it continuously since purchase, and it’s warm and durable. Best parka I’ve got.

Second Update: worn continuously throughout winter 2021-2022. So awesome I bought a second one. No joke, easily the best winter parka I've purchased from this website, and I've bought too many. Very tough, resists all attempts to snag, catch, or rip doing chores. With a fleece under, got sweaty moving things around in -20F weather, USA. Absolutely outstanding price/value offering. My second one will be held in reserve, proudly sporting its "Wyberzeze" tag until such time I irreparably trash the first one, which seems unlikely inside of this decade.

Brand new heavy duty and very warm. The liner makes it a nice winter jacket. So many pockets! And awesome camouflage.

As Arick S.mentioned, the liner sleeves tend to come out, but if you look carefully you will find two little loops on every sleeve end, and 2 buttons inside the sleeve to attach the loops on.

Problem solved!

187/110 fits perfect with room for layers, I'm 190 with a 112 chest and 90+ kg.

Brand new with the tags still attached. Manufactured in March of 2007.
The jacket is a bit long in the arms, even after going down a size, but it is very warm. Tested to -12.

Great value. For a $40 jacket, you will never get something near in quality to this. As someone in a hot state, TX, the jacket with the liner is plain too warm for most winter days. I feel like this would have me comfortably warm down to like 10 degrees F, with just a t-shirt underneath. If the wind is up, then it is easy to pop the collar up and keep warm. Also, SEVEN POCKETS!!! Four of which are pretty darn big, with 3 of them being a bit smaller. My only complaints are that the jacket is a bit clunky, as with the liner there is a lot of materiel.

As expected. Sizing is accurate for unrestricted movement even with layers underneath. You could definitely get away with ordering a size smaller in height and circumference and still have unrestricted movement with layers underneath.

Where is the drawstring on the parka?

I cannot seem to locate it. Perhaps it is missing?

Easy way to add a drawstring is to use paracord attached to a fishing wire like electricians use. It’s a stiff wire in a reel that u can push thru existing opening and attach paracord to it then pull it out. Voila

It kinda looks like the pockets are supposed to be bellowed, but the center is stitched together. Is this normal? Are you supposed to remove that center stitching to make the pockets bellowed?
