Features

It’s a rare boot that combines performance in demanding elements and extreme comfiness such as these. These winter boots are just convenient as hell. Donning them is swift, even if you use both the ankle adjustment and the snow lock cord. Well insulated with a good insole, the overall warmth of the liner means that you don’t have to put three pairs of socks underneath. Just stick your leg in as it is, and you’ll stay warm for what you need to do. For longer outings in way below-freezing temperatures, put an additional sock on.

  • Upper boot is wool felt, nubuck leather and stretch textile
  • Lined throughout with waterproof, breathable, and well-insulated Gore-Tex Partelana
  • Adjustment strap at the ankle
  • Comes with a detachable felt insole
  • Sole is glued and made of TR-rubber with a good rough tread
  • Adjustable snow lock on the leg
  • Designed in Finland, made in Estonia

Although these are equally for moving around as they are for standing in one place, they are not marching shoes. If you need to walk for a whole day, other shoes might be better suited for that. Also, if you’re expecting to step into shin-deep puddles and stand in them for a long time, then regular rubber boots would fare better. It’s when you don’t know what’s up ahead or you know to expect everything from puddles to slush to ice, with lots of snow and general coldness—that’s when these boots excel. In less extreme conditions, they’re also very nice for people who usually suffer from cold feet and those who just want to slip into something when they go outside. So basically, slippers for winter, but comfier, and you can actually walk in these.

Size info

Even though the last is pretty wide it’s not enormous. So if you know you’re going to a freezing hellscape where you need to put multiple layers of thick socks underneath, you should consider opting for a larger size. Otherwise, pick your own size or the one close to it.

Below is a table with the inside lengths of the shoe. To make sure you get an accurate fit, you should measure your foot per the manufacturer’s instructions and compare that to the table below.

Official measuring guide from Pomar

Draw the soles of your feet

  • Place a piece of paper against a wall
  • Stand with your full weight on the paper with your heel touching the wall .
  • Draw both legs on the paper. You can also ask a friend to draw your feet for you.

Measure the longest point of your feet with a ruler or tape measure

  • Measure the length of each of your feet in millimeters from the heel to the longest point of the toes.
  • The longest point may be your big toe or another toe.
  • Next, add approx. 5 mm to the reading you get. 7-10 mm if you want to use a wool sock.
  • Compare the reading with the "Inner shoe length" measurements in the product information. Note lengths vary by shoe.

Note Pomar's footwear is slightly larger compared to European footwear. There is more room for the heel and toes. If a wide last is indicated in the product, there is more space in the shoe. Most Pomar shoes have a removable insole, which can be changed to a thinner or thicker one if necessary. This is how you get added or removed space.

Care and maintenance

The leather parts of the boot should be maintained with a very light brushing, damp cloth and then impregnating the leather with a spray. When you use a conditioning agent on these, make note that it has to be specified for shoes with a membrane. Otherwise, you run the risk of losing the breathability of the shoe. For more details on shoe care, check out our article here.

Warranty

The manufacturer gives a year of warranty for these.
