Features
The new lightweight Guide Light MT™ Frame is the improved version of the tried-and-true Guide Light Frame™ and its rigid yet dynamic frame system, with a few discrete changes. Lightweight in this case isn’t just some stupid marketing lingo. This thing is like some sort of elf magic that astonished our pack addicts to that extent that Finns can ever be astonished.
The five-part waist belt is extremely well padded, and it delivers solid weight distribution and eliminates slippage over your hips, regardless of the load. The bad part is that it will make the trip a lot less miserable but you can of course spice up the tales afterward. The Overload® feature provides functional expandability via a load sling between the pack and the frame, allowing you to put the bulk of the weight closest to your back for optimal comfort. This isn’t a proper gun pack because you cannot pull the weapon quickly out while on the move. But for simply carrying your weapons, it works very well.
Materials
Metcalf is made from tough 500D Light Plus Cordura®. The fabric delivers high tensile and tear resistance, key characteristics for a robust, purpose-driven hunting pack. It has YKK® coated zippers for durability and water protection as well as SJ Autolock buckles on compression straps.
WTF old version?
Bloody hell! Due to some cosmic rift or anomalie, we got one earlier type Metcalf. It is unused and it doesn’t contain C4, Columbian nose candy, or any other weird things like that. It is just a bit different from the rest. Who knows, you might even like it as is. However, since it is an older model, we were cruel and slammed a lower price tag on it. But there’s just one of them, so act fast. If you cannot see it in the list, some cyber finger already took it.
It comes with the earlier Guide Light™ frame, which is a bit heavier. Not even 100 grams but for ultra-light addicts, this might be a catastrophe almost equaling running out of beer. Regarding the small side pockets, only one of them is elastic. The other one is made from the same material as the rest of the pack and zippered.
This version doesn’t have the full-length side zipper on the main compartment. The waist belt consists of three sections instead of five. Also, the colors differ just a tad. The buckles are also a bit different, and some little details also differ to some extent. All in all, it is a very fine pack and will serve you a long time.
Sizing
These come in two sizes, which refers to the size of the user. They both weigh quite close to 2.8 kg (6.2 lbs) and their volume is 71 L (4,335 cu-ins). Dimensions: 78 x 36 x 31 cm (30.8" x 14" x 12.3"). The patented Futura Yoke easily micro adjusts to the torso length allowing the proper amount of stand-off between the back and frame.
Medium
- Torso length: 38-51 cm (15"-20")
- Waist circumference: 79-92 cm (31"-36")
Large
- Torso length: 43-61 cm (17"-24")
- Waist circumference: 89-102 cm (35"-40")
The above figures refer to your torso and waist sizes. Measure the waist circumference with your clothes on just above the top of your hip bones roughly two fingers below your belly button. If you are between sizes on the waist belt, we recommend you size down or adjust your eating accordingly. Use a tape measure or string and have a friend measure from the bony bump at the base of your neck (C7 vertebra) to the spot on your spine that is just behind your belly button.
