US M65 field jacket, Woodland, surplus

US M65 field jacket, Woodland, surplus

49.99 EUR

The classic M65 jacket, original US army surplus! These are the Woodland camo version of the jacket, made since the 80's.

Modeled after the US ECWCS Gen 2 outer layer, this is a good jacket for bad weather. Wind- and waterproof by the way of a membrane. Included also is a fleece liner jacket, which can be used separately.

ECWCS system enables action in all climates - damp to arctic cold (or even for those cold desert nights). The secret lies in a clothing system based on layers. This jacket is part of the outer layer and works wonderfully well in civilian life too with its sensible design features.

The jacket is generously cut and has five pockets:

  • Two large hem pockets
  • Two inside breast pockets with velcro closure
  • One small pocket on the sleeve

The high collar and hood come in handy in windy and humid weather conditions. The jacket is closed with a zipper and sealed water tight with a row of snap fasteners, and a snow lock inside the waist keeps any unwanted material out. The hem, waist, hood and sleeve cuffs are all adjustable.

Unlike the original US Army ECWCS jackets, this isn't Gore-Tex, but Dintex. Dintex isn't as fancy, it doesn't breathe exactly as well but does keep wind and water out, and costs about a third of the real Gore-Tex. An added benefit is the fact that your loss isn't as great if you manage to get holes in this or something - not that this would be prone to it, as the fabric is pretty solid. Anyway, what you get is a coat that excels in the nastier end of the weather scale.

The liner jacket is made of fleece and attaches to the jacket with a zipper, and can be used on its own or under a different jacket if necessary.

While we would not recommend machine washing clothes with membrane (there's not much need for it anyway), the fleece jacket can be washed in a standard 40 degree Celsius cycle.

Size info

Sizes in the easy US style system. These are pretty vague, and it works in a generously fitting garment like this - go with the same size as you use with T-shirts and you should be fine. But what if you occasionally wear size S shirt, but many times M is the better choice? Then choose Medium.

Factory new and made by Mil-Tec.
