When you're under pressure, the last thing you need to be worried about is having the right tools on you at the right time. From cap crimpers, a beefy field blade, and fuse-wire cutters, to a carbon scraper, bolt override tool, and a replaceable C4 punch, the Leatherman MUT EOD has everything you need in an easy-access configuration for your specialized line of work.
The action is tight at first but becomes very smooth over time with repeated use and a drop of oil into the moving parts certainly doesn't hurt.
The tool is not really that pocketable but comes with a removable belt clip and a nylon sheath for PALS platforms (e.g. on MOLLE vests), and can be attached to a D-ring or loop with the carabiner. A 3/8" wrench / front sight adjustment tool is included and it slips into the PALS strap of the sheath.
Tools
The MUT EOD has robust and large pliers with crimpers and cutters that work with explosives and electrics. Some of the more common tools are omitted but the MUT was never meant for someone who feels bad about using their multi-tool as a hammer when they really shouldn't.
The scraper and C4 punch have spring retention but no actual locks. The knife and saw have liner locks and the driver never even folds this way or the other. Even the pliers have a safety catch to ensure the tool stays closed but you can opt to not use it. The ends of the pliers meet precisely – a detail we appreciate.

Made by Leatherman
To many, Leatherman is synonymous with multi-tools. This is probably because Tim Leatherman made the first multi-tool based on folding pliers in the early '80s and it certainly has helped that Leatherman multi-tools are still made in the US with very high quality.
