UPDATE: I taught fieldcraft over the weekend. Night temperatures hovered around 1 to 5 degrees Celsius. The larger size of the bag was ideal for my Finnish M05 (Carinthia Defence 4 variant) sleeping bag to fit in, over a Finnish sleeping mat. I wore thin wool long johns. I started with a toque but took it off as it became too warm. I slept well through the night, and did not notice any condensation. When I got home I noticed that some areas of the bag liner was wet with condensation (after unfolding it), but the condensation was between the insulation and reflective material of the cover. I did not feel it overnight, while I was asleep. The bag is fully unzipped and hanging on a line in my basement to dry. Eventually I will compare it with my Carinthia goretex bivvy bag which does breathe well with no noticeable condensation. On the other hand, the goretex bivvy bag provides almost no additional actual warmth / insulation. I think I will use the goretex bivvy for warmer weather and settle on the Fjellduken King size for colder to extreme cold weather with an appropriate sleeping bag. I will experiment with the 170 g/m2 Primaloft liner for the Fjellduken Exclusive inside.
