Most people know what a toiletry bag is but very few know that it originated in the US Army during WWI. The product originally designed for men became later on more widespread among women. And why not? This versatile bag is perfect for everybody really.

Use

Nowadays these bags are primarily used at home and on work trips and holidays. They are perfect for carrying personally hygiene and cosmetics products that you want to isolate from the rest of the stuff, e.g. inside a suitcase. A very handy method for keeping the toothbrush, paste, deodorant, etc. always easily available.

Features

Jämä toiletry bag is surprisingly roomy inside and it easily carries everything you need, from the toothbrush to razors, medicine, make-up, soap, and everything in between. However, it is compact enough so that it won’t fill the whole suitcase. And it is easy to grab along when going to the gym.

Inside the zippered main compartment, there are two zippered pockets where you can store all the little thingies that are otherwise easily lost.

Materials

Jämä toiletry bag is made of waterproof surplus tent canvas by Savotta, the Finnish high-quality tent maker, The seams aren’t taped but thanks to the seamless bottom part, water won’t seep through from below. So, you can put the bag on a wet surface without getting the contents wet. And if a tube of sticky goo explodes inside the bag, the stuff will not spread outside.

Manufactured by Suomen Käsityöteollisuuden Oy in Forssa, Finland.

Jämä is a Finnish word meaning leftovers or scraps. It’s also one of our house brands for equipment made from recycled or surplus materials. From time to time we accumulate stuff that doesn't sell well but is made out of outstanding materials. We've also got several capable seamstresses here, and the equation is pretty clear: cut that useless stuff apart and sew it back together to create something useful.

Because Finnish labor is one of the most expensive in the world, these are very simple, practical and rugged in design. Our development and prototype production remains in-house while most of the production is outsourced to Turku and other cities - still within Finland. Simplicity means strength: the fewer parts there are, the smaller the chance of breaking anything.
