The model in the pictures is 175 cm (5’9") tall, with a 98 cm (38.6") chest and 86 cm (33.9") waist. He is wearing the size Medium Regular jacket.

These are made in various widths and lengths. The Austrian Bundesheer size is in the brackets with regular numbers for the width and Roman numerals for the length.

The size conversions and recommendations are based on our measuring work, customer feedback, and naturally wearing these ourselves. Don't get hung up on the numbers, though: surplus clothes often have variation.

Pay attention! The numbers are recommended body measurements, not garment measur

Austrian surplus

Functional, neutral, clean. That's what the Austrian Bundesheer gear is made of. Our Austrian surplus revolves mostly around the Anzug 75 and Anzug 03 clothing systems, but who knows, maybe the "Tarnanzug Neu" will make it's appearance if the Austrians decide to clear the stocks in the future. Get your OD gear while the stocks last.

After the Second World War the Austrian soldier looked like a weird mixture of Allies and Germans; the M1 style helmet and general profile really tried to bring that NATO vibe up, but a lot of the gear and even the dotted camouflage pattern looked surprisingly much like WW2 German issue. In the 70s they took a major leap towards NATO with the introduction of the all-green Anzug 75 clothing and equipment system closely inspired by the American equivalents, finally letting go of the "old stuff". The Anzug 03 brought the game up to date with some changes in effort to modernize the whole thing. Now the Bundesheer is again moving over to camouflage.

A versatile garment. I normally wear a large and have two fleece jackets, one in 96-100 and one in 104-108, with the latter being a shell jacket. The former is more fitting and is used as a mid layer. Using Varusteleka terms one could say that I combine a medium fleece with a large M65 jacket and together they form a very competent winter layering system (with merino or Brynje netting as the base layer.)

Mine came unissued with a 2020 tag. An absolutely amazing jacket thats probably worth 3 times more!! The only minus i can think of is that the front pockets are pretty small but the collar on the other hand is huge which is not a bad thing. Get a couple or regret it forever!!!

Just received mine today. Really nice, top quality and just as described in the product copy. Mine appears unworn. I am 175cm, 100cm chest, 75 kilo and normally wear a 50 sport jacket. The medium Regular is what I ordered here and it fits perfectly: not too tight and not too loose. Enough room to comfortably wear a sweatshirt or sweater under the jacket and still move freely. Highly recommended!

Fantastic fleece, appears unused/unworn, 2020 issue for this batch (be sure to read the description for future releases). Size M Regular fits me perfectly (173cm, roughly 100cm chest size, about 75-80kg). Much less oversized than the other Austrian jackets, but still layers perfectly under them. I recommend buying the measured size.

Excellent zips & stitching quality, pockets are padded/insulated, zippered interior pocket and underarm vents, exceptionally cozy collar, thumbholes, and just as top quality as the other Austrian kit. Highly recommended!

Oikein kunnollinen takki varsinkin hintaisekseen. Large X-long sopii hyvin 190cm/110kg miehelle. Kiitos X-long mallin peukalonreiät ovat kerrankin käyttökelpoiset. Kaulus on tosiaankin korkea ja peittää kasvojen alapuoliskon niin halutessa.

I was actually quite surprised at how good this jacket this. New condition, fits perfectly, looks very smart. Not your typical military surplus. Worth every penny.

AWESOME !!!.. not only did I receive brand new but I also received the PTFE version !!!!!..

I'm 180cm and 72kg - I was lucky enough to order the last available Medium Regular !.. every part of this jacket screams durability and quality - reinforced areas, stitching and zips etc.

As someone alluded to before, the pockets are only big enough for clenched fists or car keys/lighter etc. but that is fine by me.

If I have to find a negative... the inside string adjustment is just a little too high for my waist so I don't think I will be using it.

I am 6 feet 2 inches tall with a 40 inch chest, being of Anglo-Saxon stock the Medium Long fits me like a glove! This is a ridiculously high quality garment and mine was seemingly unissued. This is a heavier fleece and I believe their claims that it is windproof. I don't need another one, but this jacket is so nice that I WANT another one...

Just when you think you own enough surplus mid-layers...Varusteleka do this to you.
I've sent off for mine on my usual surplus buying principles:
i. They're not making 'em anymore,
ii. If it dates from the 20th century, it was made in the Western Free World,
iii. By buying surplus items we are keeping the circular economy going, and
iv. By putting money into the Finnish economy, some of the taxes from it will go into their defence budget i.e. the frontline of the Western Free World. Perkele!!

As far as your second point goes, they're mostly made very recently (21st century). These are hella nice though.
