There are pullovers from different manufacturers and eras, some from the golden 80s. Therefore the insignia on the sleeves also varies. Some have patches on both sleeves, others on just one, and there are also those with no insignia whatsoever. There is a hook & loop slot for a name tag on the chest.

Materials and care

Because there are shirts from different manufacturers and eras here, also the materials and the shade of green also vary a bit. For us regular folks, these are all olive green but some fashion icon would probably be able to name five fantastic shades for these. These are made of 50% wool and 50% different synthetic materials.

If you ever need to wash these, it is best to do it at 30 degrees Celsius (86 F) using a wool cycle.

Size info

In addition to the simple sizing system, we have added the recommended chest circumference in centimeters in the brackets. If you go with your chest size, you get a pretty nice fit. It is not an ultra-slim hipster fit, nor is it an army tent. Because these come in the “Soldier” cut, the pullover might bulge a bit in the midriff department if your belly circumference is considerably bigger than the chest.

Condition

Austrian military surplus but in excellent condition. Either these are unissued or they have been only used in a cozy office.

Austrian surplus

Functional, neutral, clean. That's what the Austrian Bundesheer gear is made of. Our Austrian surplus revolves mostly around the Anzug 75 and Anzug 03 clothing systems, but who knows, maybe the "Tarnanzug Neu" will make it's appearance if the Austrians decide to clear the stocks in the future. Get your OD gear while the stocks last.

After the Second World War the Austrian soldier looked like a weird mixture of Allies and Germans; the M1 style helmet and general profile really tried to bring that NATO vibe up, but a lot of the gear and even the dotted camouflage pattern looked surprisingly much like WW2 German issue. In the 70s they took a major leap towards NATO with the introduction of the all-green Anzug 75 clothing and equipment system closely inspired by the American equivalents, finally letting go of the "old stuff". The Anzug 03 brought the game up to date with some changes in effort to modernize the whole thing. Now the Bundesheer is again moving over to camouflage.

This is really a gamble on what you may receive.
I purchased three. 92 is closest to my chest circumference, one had sleeves that were too short, the other is fine.
The 96 had very short sleeves and would not cover below the navel.
So I only have one that fits decently.
I am rather slim, and they all were form fitting. Quite the opposite of what is described and shown above.
Two were manufactured in 1981, the other in 1989. All have United Nations and Austrian coat of arms on either shoulder.
They feel most suited for early spring or fall.

Todella hyvä villapaita. itse sain kerralla sopivan ja hienot merkitkin löytyy hihoista. Paita on todellisuudessaan paljon hienompi kuin kuvassa ainakin minulla. Vuosimalli on 1981
Paita ei kutia ja ihan hyvin menee t paidan päälle ja ei tule kylmä

I bought a size 104cm, which is my normal size for shirts and mid-layers (or 42" in old money). This jumper in that size gives me the slim hipster fit, being ever so slightly small, so more of a thin mid- rather than a chunky outer layer type garment. Still excellent Austrian quality (a nation that produces, like the Netherlands, 'Stealth Surplus' of surprisingly good quality and functionality for the forests and mountains). The date of my one is 1987, funnily enough when their 'Auscon' UN contingent were serving down the line of the UN Buffer Zone in Cyprus from me in 'Britcon'. This jumper and I were destined to meet again after 34 years in that theatre of operations...what will last the longest: the jumper, me, or the UNBZ?

Surplus is a gamble and I lost. The sweater I got was washed and shrunk down multiple sizes... too bad the texture feels good. Just be mindful sizes are accurate on tag but NOT actual with the item itself. It’s a shame I was looking to rocking it this spring anyways will try my chances again! I cannot recommend as you might get the same experience - uncertain size. But the product itself is aces from what I can tell if it wasn’t for the size :/Cheers
