Austrian Bundesheer Gore-Tex jacket. Cut very much like the US ECWCS jacket (that's why the name), and likewise is waterproof. Used military surplus of the finest kind!

- Generous cut - if you're not going to wear another jacket under this, one size smaller than recommended might work too.
For those not keen on camouflage, the Austrian Bundesheer surplus should fit the bill. Overall very functional, calm, and collected, it will perform its job and nothing more, nothing less.
This is just an unlined waterproof shell jacket and meant to be worn over everything else. This is certainly a good thing; it's left up to the user to layer the clothing worn underneath, so this jacket is something you want to keep in the pack summer or winter.
Zipper & hook-n-loop closure on the front, two front pockets, two hidden breast pockets, and a good hood. The Gore-Tex membrane is squeezed between two outer layers.
These usually have a velcro name tag base on the chest and Bundesheer logo on the arm, or traces of one.
Material
The composition of the outer fabric varies, it can be either 50/50% polycotton, 65/35% polycotton or 100% polyester. The membrane is either Gore-Tex or Sympatex, these are essentially the same. 100% polyester lining.
Size info
These are a tad oversized to accommodate stuff underneath.
These are made in various widths and lengths. The Austrian Bundesheer size is in the brackets with regular numbers for the width and Roman numerals for the length.
The size conversions and recommendations are based on our measuring work, customer feedback, and naturally wearing these ourselves. Don't get hung up on the numbers, though: surplus clothes often have variation.
Pay attention! The numbers are recommended body measurements, not garment measurements!

Condition
In used but serviceable condition and repaired when necessary. Although we can't give any 105 % waterproofness guarantees in diving conditions for used membrane rainwear, these should do just fine.
Austrian surplus
Functional, neutral, clean. That's what the Austrian Bundesheer gear is made of. Our Austrian surplus revolves mostly around the Anzug 75 and Anzug 03 clothing systems, but who knows, maybe the "Tarnanzug Neu" will make it's appearance if the Austrians decide to clear the stocks in the future. Get your OD gear while the stocks last.
After the Second World War the Austrian soldier looked like a weird mixture of Allies and Germans; the M1 style helmet and general profile really tried to bring that NATO vibe up, but a lot of the gear and even the dotted camouflage pattern looked surprisingly much like WW2 German issue. In the 70s they took a major leap towards NATO with the introduction of the all-green Anzug 75 clothing and equipment system closely inspired by the American equivalents, finally letting go of the "old stuff". The Anzug 03 brought the game up to date with some changes in effort to modernize the whole thing. Now the Bundesheer is again moving over to camouflage.

The only issue (not really an issue just irritating) person who sewed the name tag velcro on it must have been really fisheyed or drunk... probably both... It starts straight then takes of like a rocket almost pointing to my shoulder and i can´t do anything about it without having to repair and re-do all the seam sealing for awsome waterproofness aka im just lazy.

Size is on the large side, but there is room for wool in cold weather.

The field jacked is very robust and should last for years (see my initial words). They are not the most silent jackets but virtually waterproof even after 8 hours on the range in heavy rain. The seems are taped off and the overall quality is stunning. If you need an outer layer with a membrane, grab one of these!
