Austrian Canteen with Pouch, Transparent, Surplus

Price 9.99 USD excluding sales tax

A see-through plastic canteen of the Austrian armed forces, Bundesheer, with a green cloth cover. This water bottle fits approximately one liter (c. 1 quart) of liquid, so it isn’t that bad to carry even when full.

The cap is attached to the bottle, so it takes some talent to lose it in the wilderness. The mouth of the bottle is quite wide, which makes it very easy to fill the bottle. Even if you carry a water reservoir with you, it might be wise to carry an extra bottle with you for cooking purposes.

On the backside of the bottle, there’s the Austrian idea of the ALICE-clips. You can use them to attach the bottle to your gear as long as the strap is not wider than 5 cm (2”).

Condition

Used army surplus but in very good condition. Some as good as new. Some have some small stains and some wear on the cloth cover. Wash the bottle properly before the first use.

Austrian surplus

Functional, neutral, clean. That's what the Austrian Bundesheer gear is made of. Our Austrian surplus revolves mostly around the Anzug 75 and Anzug 03 clothing systems, but who knows, maybe the "Tarnanzug Neu" will make it's appearance if the Austrians decide to clear the stocks in the future. Get your OD gear while the stocks last.

After the Second World War the Austrian soldier looked like a weird mixture of Allies and Germans; the M1 style helmet and general profile really tried to bring that NATO vibe up, but a lot of the gear and even the dotted camouflage pattern looked surprisingly much like WW2 German issue. In the 70s they took a major leap towards NATO with the introduction of the all-green Anzug 75 clothing and equipment system closely inspired by the American equivalents, finally letting go of the "old stuff". The Anzug 03 brought the game up to date with some changes in effort to modernize the whole thing. Now the Bundesheer is again moving over to camouflage.

I have not ordered it here, but I own two of them from my service in the austrian military.
They have survived the last 11 years of ongoing usage quite fine and do exactly what they should.

On hyvä nassakka ja vieläpä omalla taskulla. Hinta-laatusuhde erinomainen, Savotan vihreä pullo ja pussukka maksaa melkein 45€ ja näitä saa melkeimpä viisi samaan hintaan. On ehkä hitusen painavampi kuin Savotan vihreä kenttäpullo, mutta tästä sentään näkee mitä mutaa pullon sisällä oikeasti on. Kestää varmasti rymyämistä, vaikkakin toinen tilaamani pullo oli kovan iskun voimasta puhjennut, eikä pitänyt vettä. Toinen puteli oli lähes uudenveroinen muutamia muovipullon pintanaarmuja lukuunottamatta.

I purchased 2 of the canteens. They have a similar function to those 1 liter Nalgene oasis bottles. Shaped similarly, but not the same as a US GI canteen. A bit taller and thicker, but less wide. The plastic is malleable and see through. One of them was plain see through and the other had blue tint. The blue tint one had a band-aid type thing going all around it... no clue why but I took it off. Seems like they were sanitized before they were sold, would still recommend cleaning them. The pouches themselves are a bit strange. The metal buttons are on the inside (side towards you) , not the outside like the GI canteen pouch. They have these weird clips that attach to the belt. Ditched these weird clips for some good old Alice clips. Overall a 10/10 for what they are and the price.

I bought the canteen because of the good reviews. It came without cap holder which it solved by attaching a piece of string. The clear to see inside bottle was scratched all over.It was solved by placing it inside the accompaning well made sheath.
Unfortunately it leaks from the cap.
That wasnt solved .Unhappy customer.

Buyer beware! My canteen arrived damaged, whether or not it was damaged prior to, or while in shipping I have no idea, never the less when it arrived it had a small puncture in the side that leaked a decent amount of water, luckily it was easily mended with some superglue, outside of that, its a decent canteen, though there are definitely better options on the market for the price, the little pouch does have a very nice mounting system though

I've ordered these twice - 2 in one order and 2 in the second. The 2 in the first order seemed brand new. The 2 in the second were very used, and both bottles had cracks and wouldn't hold water - one even had an attempted repair that didn't take. The pouch, in good condition, will also hold a USGI canteen or British/NATO pattern 58 bottle. If you get good ones, these are really nice and super lightweight bottles, but if not... I would like to recommend these but your mileage may vary.

Decent surplus, it has some miles on the canteen, but the pouch looks much newer. For $10 USD, it's a reasonable price as an add on to a larger order.
