Hungarian Training Knife, Surplus
A metal training knife from the Hungarian armed forces. Excellent e.g. for the FMA use and tactical knife training. Metal ones feel a lot more authentic than rubber knives but the blunt point and edges make sure you won’t perform any blood magic rites with your training partners. Get two of these and you can have a lot more versatile paired drills.

Features
The handle shape is based on the combat knife of the Hungarian paratroopers, which in turn is based on the AKM rifle bayonet. The hole in the blade can also be found on that particular knife and bayonet but on them it is elongated. On those, the hole is used for transmogrifying the blade and the sheath into barbed wire cutters. On these, it is just a nice curiosity. Paratroopers were given the knife with the short-barreled AMD65 rifle. An interesting tidbit is that that particular rifle doesn’t take a bayonet. So the knife was just a knife. But then again bayonets weren’t fashionable anymore anyway.
The shaped black plastic handle has a pretty nice feel to it and the sides have a bit rougher texturing. Just like on the original, the handle forms a bit of a guard to prevent the fingers from slipping to the blade. Unlike the original knife, this blade is “double-edged” but the handle is shaped like the original, so it works better as a single-edged knife. The knife turns into the reverse grip very nicely and can be used both the blade pointing up or down. The total length is 27 cm (10.6”), of which the blade takes 14 cm (5.5”). Weight c. 170 g (6 oz).
Condition
Used Hungarian military surplus. We have divided these into two categories based on their condition. All of them are used but the Grade 2 knives have a small crack in the handle. Wrap some hockey tape or similar around the handle and you are good to go.
