If you still use cotton socks, dump them now and get these instead. These are superb for outdoor use, but work just as well as formal wear too! These aren't thick, so they can be used around the year. Made with our own specs in Finland.

Wool terry construction works amazingly well with socks, and even better with Merino wool. These knee-high socks are at their best during autumn, winter and spring, but thanks to the whole aforementioned terry thing, tend not to cause excessive sweating during summer months either. Made in Finland!

The insole of the latest Finnish army combat boot is a giant leap forward from the old stuff. This is yet another step forward, with an additional cushion in the ball of the foot. "The best thing since sliced bread", as one of our employees has been heard exclaiming. Repeatedly.

As the weather gets cold and nasty, so do cotton undergarments. The answer is to switch to merino wool. These have a nice, snug fit for best functionality. We had these made in Lithuania just for us.

If you never had the privilege of using proper grandma made woollen socks, here's the next best thing: ye olde thick woollen socks made in Finland in a very traditional workshop!

Seriously proper winter boots by the British company Grub's. Someone did something wrong and ended up offering these for us for a price we couldn't refuse - for the customer, this means well over 100 EUR boots for way less! These are the kind you definitely want when the temperatures start reaching down to zero and below. As a side note, these have been seen in use by the Finnish Border Guards, to give you some perspective of the quality.

In short, these are very decent boots for field work, hunting or general ourdoors use. Or to get simple, just walking the dog.

Features

  • Rubber and nylon construction, lined for warmth. Rubber thickness 2 mm. The shaft is made of a layered fleece, insulating foam and nylon materials and is also waterproof. It can be folded down too. The upper stretches a bit to fit stuff underneath.
  • Height of the boot about 42 cm (size 44/45), you know, standard wellie height.
  • Vibram outsole. Vibram is a well respected name in the exciting world of shoe soles and this one also keeps up the reputation - grips pretty well and the pattenr is suitably coarse. Being a winter sole, the rubber mixture is made to remain as soft as possible in freezing temps.
  • Shock absorbing midsole. This isn't TOO soft, it's suitably stabile.
  • 6 mm thick foam insole. Good enough for the purpose and very simple.
  • Reinforded nose and heel. These aren't officially safety boots, but still should keep your feet intact in normal wornking & outdoor conditions.
  • All parts attached together with epoxy impregnated material.
  • Weight about 1 kg per boot.

The official temperature range is +15 to -40 degrees Celsius (60 to -40 degrees Fahrenheit). Of course this is just a guideline, it all depends on the socks, your personal resistance to cold and all that.

Size info

Sizes in the normal EU/French sizes, with the comparable Brit size behind. As these are sized with the British system originally, a few of the EU sizes are bunched together, but with a boot like this you don't have to worry. Pick the size you usually wear and you should be fine.

Made roomy enough for double socks. Although you can walk around in warmer weather, these really are best when the temperatures hit zero and below.

Made by Grub's

Made by Grub's, a British family business. The boots are made in China, though.

Edit: Ostin toiset numeroa isommat, eikä noihin vieläkään sovi kahta kunnon villasukkaa kolmesta puhumattakaan.Eli ei ole lähelläkään suomalaista mitoitusta, Sievi,Jalas ja vastaavat.

Great boots! Sits fine and feels sturdy. Giving these boots '*****' although there might be better boots, but most likely not in this price range. Quality seems to be top. Recommended!
