Finnish M36 greatcoat #7
A true classic from ages past, the model 1936 greatcoat had its moment of glory during the Winter and Continuation War. Real deal piece from post-war years, made of very thick wool with a full satin lining. One-off piece!
A Greatcoat in the true sense of the word, this is a formidable piece of Finnish military history. One can only marvel at the workmanship and quality not found anymore. Many of these were made by tailors for certain individuals, as was this one.
On the inside pocket there's a manufacturer's tag. It says: "T.I. Myllon virka- ja siviilipukimo" (a contractor private tailor probably), and the recipient of the coat seems to be a Major Jokinen, dated 17.1.1956.
The size is about Euro 50 Regular (US 40R): by taking into the account the proper fit of this type of garment, we could say this one is made for a gentleman who's about 176 cm tall and has a chest circumference of 100 cm and about 84 cm waist circumference. Sleeve length from shoulder seam to cuff is 66 cm.
In very good shape for its age, with the most visible wear on the buttonholes. There's also minor moth nips on the collar, but that's really it. Just touch up the buttonholes and the coat is in perfectly fine usable shape.
