Finnish M36 greatcoat #6
A true classic from ages past, the model 1936 greatcoat had its moment of glory during the Winter and Continuation War. Real deal piece, made of very thick wool with a full satin lining. One-off piece!
A Greatcoat in the true sense of the word, this is a formidable piece of Finnish military history. One can only marvel at the workmanship and quality not found anymore. Many of these were made by tailors for certain individuals, as was this one.
Manufacturer's tag says "Kestilän Pukimo Oy", no idea about date. Could be wartime, could be 50's. We're betting on the 50's.
The size is about Euro 50 short (US 40S): actual measured chest circrumference about 106 cm, waist 94 cm, sleeve length from shoulder seam 65 cm. By taking into the account the proper fit of this type of garment, we could say this one is made for a gentleman who's about 170 cm tall and has a chest circumference of 100 cm and about 86 cm waist circumference.
In very good shape for its age, with the most visible wear on the buttonholes. We couldn't find any visible moth nips! This is almost good enough to be worn on some wedding or such.
