Bundesmarine winter boots with felt lining, surplus

SealSkinz Hiking Mid Mid Socks

SealSkinz Hiking Mid Mid Socks

45.99 USD

Like with any part of clothing, it's only sensible to separate different layers for footwear too. These offer the waterproof, breathable membrane in sock form. In short, with SealSkinz socks you can turn any ol' boot or piss skater into waterproof footwear. Properly made, well tested, tried and true, SealSkinz is a brand you can trust!

Short, wide snowshoes. Dutch army surplus, and quite fresh too. Can be used with just about any boots you could think of.

This stubby model works better in rougher terrain, whereas the tennis racket type is more suited for open ground and soft snow. In any case, you'll be better off with at least some snow shoes than without.

Extremely simple to use - the front straps go over your boot, the back strap is fastened around the back of the heel, naturally.

Dutch army surplus

Used, but in very nice shape. However, a very occasional rivet might be shot but that's an easy fix. Excellent value for the price - remember, these are army surplus, and made for real use.

Good basic snowshoes to have around the house or to keep it in the truck in case you get stuck somwhere in the winter and you need to walk out. Made by Laplandia, my pair was from the 1980s and in good condition. Too small for hiking in the open areas with a very deep snow but work OK in the forest even a dense one.
