German pilots sure have classy winter boots. Black leather with stylish suede reinforcements. Even if you aren’t an aviator, these are very nice for both casual and business looks. Not a bad price either.

Features

Black full leather boots that have black suede reinforcements at the toes. The top of the boot leg is padded and there are also ventilation holes there. When you walk, the boot pumps moisture out through the holes. The boots that we checked featured insoles but take them as a bonus because we cannot guarantee that all have them. Besides, it might be better to get a new pair anyway for example from us.

Inside you will find a furry and fluffy lining that makes these relatively warm winter shoes. Don’t try to reach the South Pole in these but for urban winter use, these are quite nice. At least some of these were made by Baltes Schuhe from Germany, which is known for professional footwear. There can be other manufacturers as well because Bundeswehr does order stuff from many places. The sole is molded, and the tread pattern is not a very heavy trail pattern, so these aren’t ideal winter hiking boots. The weight c. 800 g / 1.76 lbs per boot (44.5).

Choosing the right size

The sizing system is Mondopoint, which means the length of your foot in millimeters. We have also added the corresponding EUR/US size. Because these have fluffy lining and because you might want to wear thicker socks in winter, you should take one size larger than what you normally have. These are fairly narrow so if your foot is shaped like a hammerhead shark, these might not be that ideal.

To measure your foot length, stand on a piece of paper with your weight evenly on each foot. Draw curves behind your heel and in front of your longest toes and measure the longest distance between them. Do this for both feet: it's not common to have precisely the same size on both feet. With these boots, don't round down the results at all! If you measure 286 mm, the 285 is likely to feel constricted and a 290 is the better choice.
